BeStMan is a full implementation of SRM v2.2, developed by Lawrence
Berkeley National Laboratory, for disk based storagesystems
and mass storage systems such as HPSS. End users may have their own personal BeStMan that manages and provides an SRM interface to
their local disks or storage systems. It works on top of existing disk-based unix file system, and has been reported so far to work on
file systems such as NFS, PVFS, AFS, GFS, GPFS, PNFS, and Lustre.
It also works with any existing file transfer service, such as gsiftp, http, https and ftp. It requires the minimal
administrative efforts on the deployment and maintenance. |

SRM client tools are full
implementations of SRM v2.2 as generic SRM v2.2 clients, developed by
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. They have been tested for all current
SRM v2.2 implementations such as BeStMan, CASTOR, dCache, DPM, SRM/iRODS-SRB and StoRM. They are
continuously being tested for compatibility and interoperability. |

BeStMan-Xrootd is a generic SRM v2.2 load balancing front-end for GridFTP servers.
It works with any Posix-like file
systems. It is specifically
tested with gLite File Transfer Service (FTS) and glite-url-copy, a componment of
gLite software used by the ATLAS experiment on the
Large Hadron Collider. BeStMan-Xrootd
only provides SRM interface as a thin layer to its underlying storage system,
and doesn't do any request queuing or space management, nor does it transfer
data. BeStMan-Xrootd
requires one or more file transfer servers. BeStMan-Xrootd
was originally designed for the Xrootd storage
system. However, it can be used with any storage system that has a GridFTP server and a Posix-like
file system interface. |

BeStMan SRM Reference implementation is a skeleton SRM for SRM v2.2 that can be customized for any underlying storage needs. They work with any available SRM v2.2 clients. |

SRM-Tester is a full implementation of SRM v2.2 as generic SRM v2.2
testing tool, developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. They have
been tested for all current SRM v2.2 implementations such as BeStMan, CASTOR, dCache,
DPM, SRM/iRODS-SRB and StoRM.
They are continuously being tested for compatibility and
interoperability. ItŐs a
java implementation that would run on any OS platforms. It requires the minimal
administrative efforts on the deployment and maintenance. |
